Cosy Nepal invites you to an authentic immersion in the heart of Nepal, in the historical city of Patan.

Since 2013, Cosy Nepal has grown as a collective hospitality project initiated by Camille Hanesse, Jiten Shrestha and Nicolas Marie, together with a dedicated local team. What began as the restoration of a single traditional Newar house has gradually evolved into a carefully curated collection of places rooted in heritage, craft and everyday life.

Cosy Nepal is not about standard accommodation. Each house is restored with respect for traditional architecture, while quietly integrating modern comfort, allowing travellers to experience Patan from within rather than as visitors passing through.

Staying at Cosy Nepal means inhabiting unique spaces and connecting with the living history of the Kathmandu Valley, through places shaped over time and experiences designed with care.

Accommodation services under the Cosy Nepal brand are delivered by locally registered Nepali companies that operate and manage each property on the ground.

This French-Nepali agency manages several traditional houses in the old town, all renovated with modern touches. The website details the different options, from simple single crashpads to family suites with kitchenettes. All strike a great balance between traditional architecture and modern style.

The initiator of this concept of charming Newar rentals is Camille! This Frenchwoman, who has lived in Patan for many years, offers cocoon apartments, jewels of characterful Newar architecture, superbly restored and furnished. Every detail of decoration is tastefully thought out, and the facilities are adapted to both short and long stays. For her guests, she has published a small guide to the best addresses in old Patan, reflecting her warm welcome. In fact, everyone knows her on this temple-lined square. A real favorite.

Who are we ?

Initially, it is the story of three friends - Camille, Jiten and Nico - all enthralled by Nepali culture, passionate about heritage conservation and willing to share both via a true sense of hospitality. The family has grown and now incorporate many other lovely people all dedicated to one same vision: preserving Newari heritage as well hosting guests in the best conditions.

Our Idea

Our idea is to offer the possibility to stay in a charming place that blends tradition and modern comfort. Whether our guests are on holiday or on a working mission, we wish to propose them a smart alternative to a hotel stay and the possibility to be immersed in the vibrant daily Nepali life of the Old Patan. Being ourselves in love with the culture and its traditions, we want our guests to experience it in the best conditions.

How came the idea ?

We were quite shocked by the pace of heritage and patrimony destruction and thought it was time to react by developing modern and sustainable architectural solutions in the respect of aesthetic tradition. Being amazed by the rich architectural Newari patrimony,we got involved in promoting it through conservation projects.

In the case of our renovation projects, our goal is to offer new hospitality solutions that helps house owners to make the choice of not tearing down their old family house. We help by finding them incentive to keeping it alive and updating it. We look for sustainable ways of preserving the old structure that keep the balance between the architectural tradition without giving up on the comfort and security you expect.

We thought home-like and cosy accommodations were lacking in Kathmandu and wanted to promote nice and intimate places off the beaten track.
